Open Power Options in Control Panel. (Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Power Options.)

Click the Hibernate tab, and then select the Enable hibernate support check box.

If the Hibernate tab is not available, your computer does not support this feature.

Click Start, and then click Shut Down. In the What do you want the computer to do drop-down list, click Hibernate.

If you are using Windows XP Home Edition, or Windows XP Professional with Fast User Switching turned on, the Shut Down menu will present the options to Stand By, Turn Off, or Restart your computer. Hold down the Shift key, and the Stand By button will change to Hibernate. ..!!

Fastest way to get any IP address!

An Internet Protocol address (IP address) is a numerical label assigned to each device (e.g. computer, printer) participating in a computer network that uses the Internet Protocol for communication. An IP address serves two principal functions: host or network interface identification and location addressing. Its role has been characterized as follows: "A name indicates what we seek. An address indicates where it is. A route indicates how to get there

Simple and Effective

Go to This Site  :

Whatever the site is telling just Follow and you will get a link

Send it to the target. Once he visits the site, you will get his IP address

and he will only see an error message saying "Not Found"

Don't worry about the error the user gets, it's just a fake error message and no harm would be caused to the user.

So just apologize for the link n tell him that the site seemingly doesn't work anymore.

Using this method, a user can shutdown, restart, hibernate, etc. his or her computer, just by sending an email from his or her phone.

To do this, all you will need is Microsoft Outlook which should come with Microsoft Office, which most people have. This will need to be on the computer wish you wish to shutdown.

So, this is how you do this:

1. First, you need the batch files to perform the Shutdown, Hibernate etc. You can write them down yourselves or can download them from here.

2. Extract them to your C:\ drive so the path to the shutdown batch file is C:\sms_functions\shutdown.bat (Important this is a must the path must be exact) or you can modify the rule once you import it to point to the new destination, it's your call.

3. Open up Microsoft Outlook. Make sure that you have already configured it for your email. Now we will need to make it so that Outlook checks your inbox about every minute (1 minute for testing time can be increased if a delayed shutdown is desired). You can do this by going to Tools: Options.

4. Then click the Mail Setup tab, and afterwards, the Send/Receive button.

5. Make sure that the Schedule an automatic send/receive every... box is checked, and set the number of minutes to 1. Now you may close all of these dialog boxes.

6. Now go to Tools: Rules and Alerts... Next click the options button in the upper right hand corner and press the Import Rules button.

7. Now select the shutdown.rwz file that was found in the zip file named sms_functions that you downloaded.

8. Now, when you send a message from your phone to your e-mail address with the subject smsshutdown%%, your computer will shutdown.

You can also make your own rule, so that you can use your own batch file, and may specify the phrase you want to trigger the action.

Speedup Broadband

Microsoft Doesn’t Want You To Know!

QUESTION : How to Increase Internet Speed?

ANSWER : Increasing Band-Width By 20% Microsoft reserves 20% of your available bandwidth for their own purposes like Windows Updates
and interrogating your PC etc To get it back:

Click Start then Run and type "gpedit.msc" without quotes.

This opens the group policy editor.

Then go to: Local Computer Policy

then Computer Configuration

then Administrative Templates

then Network

then QOS Packet Scheduler

and then to Limit Reservable Bandwidth.

Double click
on Limit Reservable bandwidth.

It will say it is not configured, but the truth is under the
'Explain' tab

i.e."By default, the Packet Scheduler limits the system to 20 percent of the
bandwidth of a connection, but you can use this setting to override the default."

So the
trick is to ENABLE reservable bandwidth,

then set it to ZERO.

This will allow the system to
reserve nothing, rather than the default 20%.

It works on Win 2000 as well.

To display the headers,* Click on Options on the top-right corner* In the Mail Options page, click on General Preferences* Scroll down to Messages where you have the Headers option* Make sure that Show all headers on incoming messages is selected* Click on the Save button* Go back to the mails and open that mail.

You can set your Num Lock to stay on by default when you logon your system.

There are two different techniques to set Num Lock stay on by default.

Configure Firefox for Better speed!

Configuring Firefox

(1) Open Firefox and type about:config in the address bar, then press enter. Next you'll see a list of configurations pop up.

(2) In the filter line under the address bar type in network.http.pipelining and double click on it to set its value to True.(if you don't find filter tab then press ctrl+f for tab)What this does is it increases the "pipeline" Ram ability of Firefox allowing the browser to accept more packet transfers.

(3) Now in the filter bar type in network.http.pipelining.maxrequests double click on it and set the value from 4 to 10. This increases the maximum amount of packet requests to 10.

(4) Next use the right click option to create a new string, name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set its value to 0. By creating this string you're signaling the browser that there will be no delay when first displaying the page. Usually you since the value by default is 250 you have to wait 250 milliseconds before you can view any page within the time that you've first opened it.

Now you're ready to enjoy Firefox's fast speed. There is no need to save anything, all you have to do is close Firefox and restart it. You should be able to see an immediate increase in file transfer speed from additional 10 to 40 percent....

Reinstall Windows Not Losing Anything!

How To Reinstall Windows Without Losing Anything

You can use this method as often as you like when you need to repair something that had gotten corrupted and you don't want to do a clean install.

This is better than doing a windows repair install from the cd because doing that can cause changes to settings and even make it so you can't get updates anymore from microsoft update site because of the 'silent install' they did a year or so ago (unless you rereg some dll files).

1- Start WindowsXP
2- Go to the location of your source files
3- Run WINNT32 /unattend
For example, D:\I386\winnt32 /unattend ( copy & paste this command into the RUN box, then press ENTER ) Your computer will do the rest.

Start > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
Copy & paste > D:\I386\winnt32 /unattend (notice the space between 32 and / )
Press Enter.
If you have i386 on your drive, you can replace D: ( if D: is your cd drive ) with the location of it. (be sure it's the full i386 though)

D: is the driver letter where your windows XP Cd is
if D:\I386\winnt32 /unattend doesn't work then try : d:\winnt32 /unattend.

Let's say, you have a software that is very important but you don't use it frequently like your tax software for example. So the practical difficulty is to find it every time from All Programs because you aren't likely to get it under Start menu option. It kills time, complicates the process and consequently makes you less productive. So what you do is:

1. Right click on any .exe file in Explorer, My Computer, Desktop
2. Select Pin to Start Menu,
3. The program is then displayed on the start menu, above the separator line.
4. To remove it, click the file on the start menu and select 'Unpin from Start Menu'. Below you can check the before and after shots.

You are done now. Your program will forever remain in the Start menu or until the next window crash.

How To Delete Annoying Multiple Entries in Boot Screen

Suppose you have multiple copies of Windows XP installed in your PC in different drives or installed Windows XP on top of another operating system like Windows 98 or Windows 2000. Now, though you may have removed some or all of the older versions, still the boot screen continues to show the old operating system entries. Isn't it annoying and confusing to remember and select every time the only right option? Don't worry, here is how you can get rid of the problem forever:

1. Load windows and login if required
2. Go to Start menu, click on Run and then type cmd. This open up the command window.
3. Type this command:
bootcfg /delete /id x
where x is the number of the option you want to delete. Say, for example, you want to delete 2nd boot option then you will type bootcfg /delete /id 2 and so on.
4. Now reboot the machine to check that you have only the correct option(s) available.

* Please be careful in step 3 and don't delete the correct operating system because that will prevent you from booting.
* Repeat step 3 to delete all unnecessary operating system menus.

Hide the Text Below Desktop Icons!

Some icons you use so regularly that you don’t need that annoying text below the icon. A good example of this is Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox. We all know what those icons look like. To remove that text, just follow these instructions.

Right-click on the shortcut icon, and choose Rename. Now hold down the Alt key and type in 255 on the keypad to the right of the keyboard. You can’t use the number keys right above the keyboard. If you have a laptop, you can turn on Numlock and then use the little number keys next to the regular letters.

The way this works is that the Alt+255 character is blank, so the shortcut filename is actually just named with a character that is completely blank. For the first shortcut on the desktop, you would use Alt+255, but for the next shortcut, you’ll have to enter the combination twice (Alt+255, Alt+255). For the third, three times… and so on. This is because you can’t name two different shortcuts or files the same thing. Entering Alt+225 twice would give you two blanks instead of one.

Now we have a beautiful icon, with no text underneath it!

Ultimate trick to get secure passwords!!

[TRICK] Ultimate Trick to get Secure Passwords
A secure and a memorable password is supposed to be simple for you to remember, and hard for others to guess.

Everywhere you have to use your password to login or register at a site. Whether it’s the dozens of web sites that crave you log in to use them, or your ATM card PIN, how do you decide on a new password? More importantly, how do you remember that?

Don’t use the same password for every site.

The problem with using the same password for everything you do is that if it’s compromised and someone finds it, the rest of your identity is at risk. for example if your email account has a security breach or you may have been tricked into lossing your password , potentially thieves will not only compromise your email account but also your Online bank account or Paypal acc or maybe your Facebook account because you are using the same password for all of them.

Use 1 Rule Set for all your Passwords

You do not need to remember all your passwords if you have 1 rule set for generating them. One Trick to get unique and easy-to-remember passwords is to choose a base pass word and then apply a rule that includes the name of the service in it. For example, let’s say your base password is “PARY.” Then your password for Gmail would be “PARYGAMIL”, and your password for Paypal would be .PARYPYPL

You can use many other great combinations along this same rule (say, your initials and a favorite number) plus the first three letters of your service. so my password for Yahoo would be SK14YAHO. Including Special Chars will be better.
Choosing your Rule Set (Base Password)

You can use anything in it , maybe your favourite song like take Beyonce’s “All the single ladies” so my rule set can be ATSL and you can add the services name , your fav number , maybe a special charachter too. so it can be like ATSL56YAHO&.

Before you decide your Password rule set, keep in mind that every service has different password requirements in terms of length and charachters allowed, you should go for a 8 letter password which has both upper and lower class alphabets & numbers or maybe a special charachter “!@#$%^&*()”.

You can generate 100’s of unique passes. ENJOY and Share
